Fast Algorithms for Estimating Aerosol
نویسنده
چکیده
Remotely sensed images collected by the satellites are usually contaminated by the eeects of the atmospheric particles through absorption and scattering of the radiation from the earth surface. The objective of atmospheric correction is to retrieve the surface reeectance from remotely sensed imagery by removing the atmospheric eeects, which is usually performed in two steps. First, the optical characteristics of the atmosphere are estimated and then the remotely sensed imagery is corrected by inversion procedures that derive the surface reeectance. In this paper we introduce an eecient algorithm to estimate the optical characteristics of the Thematic Mapper (TM) imagery and to remove the atmospheric eeects from it. Our algorithm introduces a set of techniques to signiicantly improve the quality of the retrieved images. We pay a particular attention to the computational eeciency of the algorithm, thereby allowing us to correct large TM images quite fast. We also provide a parallel implementation of our algorithm and show its portability and its scalability on several parallel machines.

Due to the effect of aerosols present in the atmosphere on the satellite images, the study of the effect of local aerosols distribution on the satellite images is important. On the other hand, the study shows that the effect of aerosols on the greenhouse gases and consequently on climate is also undeniable and as a result, this puts more emphasize on the necessity of this study. Lack of informa...

Assessing and monitoring rangelands in arid regions are important and essential tasks in order to manage the desired regions. Nowadays, satellite images are used as an approximately economical and fast way to study the vegetation in a variety of scales. This research aims to estimate the coverage percent using the digital data given by ETM+ Landsat satellite. In late May and early Ju...
متن کاملEstimating the Number of Wideband Radio Sources
In this paper, a new approach for estimating the number of wideband sources is proposed which is based on RSS or ISM algorithms. Numerical results show that the MDL-based and EIT-based proposed algorithm havea much better detection performance than that in EGM and AIC cases for small differences between the incident angles of sources. In addition, for similar conditions, RSS algorithm offers hi...
